Busy weekend for photographers. I was honored to photograph this weekend's boys AAU tournament in Gwinnett County, GA. Walking into a gym that I once played and had my best game in high school, brought back memories. As I'm taking in all of the vibes, I remember my main goal was to make sure I caught action shots of young Justin Wise.
Justin is a 6'2" guard that loves shooting the 3 point shot. His mother, his Uncle, and I went to school with each other as far back as elementary. However, now it is his turn.
Being young and balling is a lifestyle that only those who have experienced it will only truly understand. It is several practices, several tournaments that are more taxing on the body than a standard high school season.
I'm proud of the young generation that is now taking advantage of this off season opportunity to make a name for themselves outside of their traditional high school teams. AAU is a big business. That is why I am pleased to see the kids just being kids amongst a money making business meant to capture their flaws early in order to have the footage for future story-telling mechanisms.
There's a saying in basketball from the great Rasheed Wallace, "ball don't lie." Well now, my saying is about to be "film don't lie." This is just another episode of , "Young and Balling."
